We renamed the business. Here's the honest reason why.
For several years this business was called Ottawa Marketing Guys. It did what it said: digital marketing, run from Ottawa. SEO, Google Ads, web design, social campaigns — conventional agency work for local businesses.
Two things changed, and the name stopped fitting on both counts.
The city changed
I'm now based primarily in Toronto. A business named after a city I no longer mainly work from isn't a brand, it's a trivia question. The new name is deliberately geography-neutral — the work has never really cared where the client sits, and now the name doesn't either.
The work changed
The second shift matters more. Over the past couple of years, AI has gone from a curiosity to doing a meaningful share of the actual delivery work here — drafting, research, optimization grinding, reporting. Not replacing the marketing; accelerating it. 'Marketing Guys' undersold that, and frankly 'Guys' oversold the headcount.
So, to be plain about what Vantik is: one owner, a small amount of human help on admin, and AI doing real work alongside — I genuinely think of it as part of the team. That's not a confession, it's the model. It's why a business this size can deliver at the pace it does.
What didn't change
The clients, the services, and the standard. Everything the old business did — search, ads, web, social — Vantik still does, most of it faster. The testimonials from those years live on our Work page, clearly marked as history from the previous chapter, because that's what they are.
